Matt is an independent Americana artist based in Nashville, TN. A farmer’s kid born and raised in rural South Carolina, Matt was steeped in music from a young age with his talented family of five brothers and sisters. From bluegrass and classic rock from his father, to grunge and metal from his older sisters, Matt grew up with a variety of influences, along with disciplined practice instilled by his mother. In his early career, Matt fronted a metal band, played bass for a country band, and played guitar and dobro for country and bluegrass bands. Taking all of those influences and experiences, Matt decided to finally venture out into a solo project, something that can best be described as “progressive Americana.” With the grit and intensity of rock and metal, comes the roots and soulfulness of country and bluegrass.
